Jasper, TX: Buna woman pleads not guilty in husband's shooting death

A Buna woman indicted for murder in connection with shooting death of her husband entered a plea of not guilty Thursday in a Jasper County courtroom. Patricia Sheard, 60, is accused of fatally shooting her husband, Tommy Sheard, at their County Road 837 home in Buna on Jan. 24. Investigators found his body inside his vehicle, which was parked behind his home. Sheard was shot once through his left shoulder, and the bullet exited through his right shoulder, according to reports.

Authorities received information that the weapon used in the Tommy Sheard killing was left in a wooded area near Dam B in the Jasper lakes region. Officers with the Jasper County and Tyler County sheriff's offices were able to find the weapon, according to reports. Police arrested Patricia Sheard after the weapon was found. She is represented by attorney Randall J. Walker, who also represented Tammy Lynn Jones in February. Jones also stood accused of the murder of her husband and was sentenced by the jury to a lesser crime of manslaughter and was ordered to serve 16 years in prison. Jones claimed and entered testimony that her husband had abused her and the children in the home. Also, she shot her husband in the midst of an argument as he was beating her car with a baseball bat, evidence showed.
