DALE CITY, Va. — Police in suburban Washington, D.C., say a man and woman died in an apparent murder-suicide at a home used as a day care.
Prince William County police say seven children were there at the time but they did not see the shootings and were not in danger.
Killed were 39-year-old Tonitha M. White, who ran the day care, and 49-year old Richard A. Nichols, both of Dale City, Va.
Officers found the two upstairs in the home early Monday. Police say that when the shootings happened, White's 12-year-old daughter led the children to the basement and called police.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
