OAKLAND -- A 50-year-old woman found dead Wednesday morning at a West Oakland hotel died from multiple stab wounds and blunt trauma that included some broken ribs, police said Thursday.
Police have arrested Frank Austin Jr., 51, her boyfriend of several years, on suspicion of murder.
The woman's name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
She was found dead about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in a room at the hotel in the 500 block of 28th Street after Austin called emergency personnel, police said.
She had been dead for some time and Sgt. Jim Rullamas said there was blood throughout the room. It was not known how long the two had been in the room.
Rullamas said the couple had a history of domestic violence. He said Austin would not talk about how the woman died.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
