Madison, wi (WSAU) Madison’s police chief said a 28-year-old man fought with his girlfriend the night before he apparently killed her two young sons, and left them in a parked car. Police said David Hoem’s (home’s) family urged him to turn himself in – and he did so around one yesterday morning. An hour-and-a-half later, police found the car with the bodies of two brothers, ages 3-and-4. The car was parked at Covance, a drug development services company on Madison’s east side. Police said video from a security camera led them to believe the children were killed in the parking lot. But Chief Noble Wray did not know how the boys died. Autopsy results are pending. The names of the victims and their mother were not immediately released. Wray told reporters that Hoem is a primary suspect in the deaths. For now, he’s being jailed on a parole violation while the investigation continues. Police said a knife was involved in a fight between Hoem and his girlfriend on Monday night at their apartment. She reported the fight to police on Tuesday, and she later learned that Hoem had picked up the boys from another man who was their father. The woman called police back and said the kids were missing. Officers then began searching for Hoem. Court records showed that Hoem was convicted of false imprisonment in a domestic incident in Dane County in 2006. He was previously convicted of felony battery in Lincoln County in ’02, and reckless endangerment in Dane County in 2004.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
