A murder suspect from the state of New York was arrested Sunday in Omaha. New York state police say Garbriel Lopez-Perez was taken into custody after getting goff a bus.
Lopez-Perez is accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death in Wappinger Falls, New York. The victim is his girlfriend, 27-year old Maria DeLaPaz Ruiz Alvarez. Wappinger Falls is about 65 miles north of New York City.
New York state police interviewed Lopez-Perez Monday. They obtained a warrant charring him with second-degree murder. Lopez-Perez will now face extradition proceedings in Nebraska.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
