Man charged with stabbing woman to death
September 18, 2010
A 47-year-old man was charged Saturday with killing a woman in what police are calling a "domestic-related incident."
Carey Donald was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of Chorelynn Johnson-Roth, 53, on Friday. The two lived at the same address on the 1300 block of West 56th Street, officials said.
Johnson-Roth was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m. Friday at Stroger Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. She died of multiple stab injuries in a homicide, the office ruled Saturday following an autopsy.
Police officials said Johnson-Roth was the victim of domestic abuse. Police went to the woman's home at about 10:15 a.m. Friday after getting a call about a battery in progress and found her bleeding from a head wound she sustained from a knife attack, officials said.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
