EAST LIVERPOOL - A woman and man were killed and a second woman was wounded in a shooting early today in East Liverpool.
The East Liverpool Police Department responded to 1126 Avondale St. at 2:38 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 25-year-old man dead on the sidewalk, a 22-year-old woman dead on the front porch and another 22-year-old woman was found inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds.
Early indications are that it was a murder/suicide, and police officers are not actively seeking a suspect.
The male found on the sidewalk a block away from the home died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to preliminary information. There was an argument before the shootings happened, and the male reportedly was the ex-boyfriend of the injured female.
The injured female was airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital due to the extent of her injuries.
Officers cleared the scene at approximately 6 a.m.
Names of those injured or killed were not immediately released.
Today's shooting was the third murder/suicide to occur in the Ohio Valley in recent weeks. Police said a man in Wellsburg murdered his wife and stepson and then took his own life while in Martins Ferry, a man killed his wife and then committed suicide.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
