Chula Vista police arrested a 22-year-old man
Saturday night for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death in front
of the couple's 3-year-old child.
Officers responded to reports of domestic violence in the 1100-block Morgan Hill Road around 7:15 p.m., police said.
The victim, Yesenia Lynn, 21, was found dead in an upstairs bedroom. Her body had multiple stab wounds, according to police.
Officers on scene had to negotiate
with suspect Michael Chavez by telephone to convince him to come
outside. He walked out of the home carrying his 3-year-old daughter.
Police said the child was not injured during the incident. She was safely taken into custody.
Homicide detectives and the Chula Vista Police Department Family Protection Unit are investigating.
Chavez was booked into jail on suspicion of first degree murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
