Six days before the body of a 25-year-old woman was found in Bradenton, deputies said, she was the victim of aggravated battery and told investigators she was three months pregnant.
Myslene Gabriel's body was found this morning on the living room floor at Desoto Village Apartments, 3810 5th St. E. Her 2-year-old daughter was found uninjured in another room.
Gabriel is the sister of ex-USF football player Mistral Raymond. The former defensive back sent out a tweet this morning acknowledging her death.
Gabriel's autopsy has not been completed, but "there is evidence of foul play and detectives are working the case as a homicide," a Manatee County Sheriff's Office news release states.
Deputies responded to a domestic battery call Tuesday at the apartment complex. Gabriel told investigators that her ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Bryan Stanford, grabbed her face and hit her with an open hand, deputies said.
Stanford left the complex Tuesday before investigators arrived, deputies said. Detectives got a warrant for Stanford for aggravated battery in connection with that incident and want to speak with him about today's homicide.
Those with information should call deputies at (941) 747-3011, ext. 2513 or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-8477.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
