A Queens man who pled guilty to brutally stabbing his wife to death in front of their daughter was sentenced to 25 years in prison today.
Balbir Singh, 37 was silent as Queens Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Holder sentenced him for the murder of his wife, Kulwinder Kaur, 29 inside of their Woodside home in 2008.
"The lengthy prison sentence imposed today by the court is more than justified," said DA Richard Brown. "The defendant not only violently attacked and killed his wife in front of their young daughter, but also turned his knife on the child when she came to her mother’s aid."
The two were having a heated argument that escalated to Singh stabbing his wife multiple times and their 7-year-old daughter, Bubita Rani, in the arm as she was trying to stop the fight. Rani received 11 stitches from her wound.
Singh fatally stabbed his wife four times in the chest, upper right shoulder and upper back. She suffered 17 other knife wounds during the scuffle, according to court documents.
