JASPER - by Steve W. Stewart/KJAS - The jury is deliberating the guilt or innocence of an Evadale woman accused of murdering her husband in the driveway of their home in June of 2008. The prosecution and defense wrapped up their closing arguments late Tuesday afternoon and the case went to the jury in the trial of 43-year-old Tammy Lynn Jones, who is accused of shooting Roy Jones one time with a .22 pistol.
District Attorney Steve Hollis painted a picture of a woman scorned, who found photos of another woman on her husband’s cell phone, and even practiced with the gun to kill her husband.
Meanwhile, defense attorney Randy Walker brought witnesses, including an ex girlfriend, who testified that Roy Jones was an extremely abusive man, and the killing was in self defense.
