STOCKTON, Calif.—Stockton Police are investigating a man who allegedly shot and killed his fiancée and himself after calling 911 as an apparent murder suicide.
Officer Pete Smith, a department spokesman, said Friday that 45-year-old Joseph Giacovoni called 911 and told dispatchers Thursday morning he was going to shoot his fiancée, 35-year-old Maya Paratore.
Smith said when officers arrived to the couple's home they found the front door open and the couple shot inside. They were later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Smith said it's unclear whether Giacovoni had shot Paratore when he called 911.
Smith said the couple, who were engaged and living together as a blended family with four children, had fought before the shooting as a motive is still unknown.
None of the children were at home during the shooting.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
