MERIDIAN — The Ada County coroner has identified the 20-year-old father and his 8-month-old son who police say died Monday night in an act of murder and suicide.
The father is Nicholas Bacon, and the baby is Bekm Bacon. Both died of gunshot wounds to the head.
Meridian Police Department were dispatched Monday night at 8:30 p.m. to the 500 block of S. Pelican Way in response to a call about a suicidal subject. Officers were informed Nicholas Bacon had made suicidal and homicidal statements to his 19-year-old wife. The couple was in the divorce process and the wife was not in the home.
Upon arrival officers attempted to make contact by telephone and by knocking on the door. When they received no answer, officers made entry into the residence. It was then officers discovered Nicholas and Bekm Bacon's bodies.
"Both were deceased and it appears the 20-year-old died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 8-month-old also died from a gunshot wound," MPD Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea said in information released to the media this morning. The baby was the child of the husband and wife, police confirmed.
