REDDING, Calif. -- Jeannie Gastineau was in Shasta County Superior Court today for a preliminary hearing; she's facing eight counts including murder.
Earlier this year, Gastineau was arrested after driving while under the influence, with a suspended license, and hitting and killing her boyfriend.
An investigator testified in court on Wednesday saying that Gastineau had told him that she was trying to scare the victim and accidentally killed him.
A judge decided on Wednesday that the prosecution presented enough evidence, giving him a strong suspicion that Gastineau may have murdered her boyfriend.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
