Police are investigating the apparent murder-suicide of a married couple in their rural home near Cumberland.
Allegany County Bureau of Police Chief Robert Dick said Thursday that the preliminary indication is that the man shot his wife and then himself.
He says a family member called 911 at about 1:30 p.m. after finding the bodies in the home on Old Hancock Road in a mountainous area northeast of Cumberland near Rocky Gap State Park.
Dick says Maryland State Police are assisting in the investigation.
He declined to identify the couple pending notification of more family members.
