ROCHESTER, N.Y. — An upstate New York man has been found guilty of killing his wife on Thanksgiving Day last year and burying her on a Lake Ontario beach.
A Wayne County jury deliberated for 35 minutes Monday before finding 37-year-old Bryon Drennan guilty of second-degree murder in the slaying of 28-year-old Stefanie Casey.
Prosecutors say Drennan bludgeoned and stabbed his Carrollton, Texas-born wife and buried her body on a beach near their home in Williamson, 20 miles east of Rochester. Her body was found two days later.
The couple met in the Dallas area in August 2008, moved to Williamson and were married Nov. 3.
Prosecutors say Casey had been assaulted several times by Drennan and was planning to leave him.
Drennan faces up to 25 years to life in prison when he's sentenced Oct. 29.
