VALENTINE, Neb. (AP) - An armed 56-year-old Valentine man has been shot and killed by police.
Cherry County Attorney Eric Scott confirmed reports that Gary Connot (CONN-ut) was killed early Tuesday morning in Valentine after officers responded to a call from the home of Connot's ex-wife.
It was unclear whether Connot pointed a gun at officers or fired at them.
Connot was not allowed to be at his ex-wife's home following a January incident where he held her at gunpoint.
Connot, a rancher from the Valentine area, was out on bond.
He was scheduled to be sentenced in October for charges stemming from the January incident.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
