RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A 24-year-old Rapid City man will serve life in prison without parole for the stabbing and beating death of his girlfriend.
Jurors in August convicted Tad Blackburn of second-degree murder for the November 2007 killing of 44-year-old Tamara Magic, who was found dead in her Rapid City home with multiple stab wounds and an injury to her head.
During the trial, prosecutors proved that Blackburn stabbed Magic until the knife broke and then beat her in the head with a rock, then robbed her in order to buy drugs.
Blackburn's attorney said he'll petition for a new trial.
Prosecutors said it's likely another man, 22-year-old Aaron Jones, will face new charges for his role in Magic's death.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
