A Waterloo police officer has killed a man after responding to a report of a domestic dispute.
Police say the officer shot the man after police were called to a Waterloo home after 2 a.m. Saturday on a report of a dispute between a man and a woman.
Soon after they arrived, the man struggled with two officers. When he began to overpower one of the officers, the officer drew his gun and shot the man in the chest.
He died at the scene.
One officer was taken to a hospital. The second officer wasn't hurt.
Police didn't release the names of the officers or the man killed. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation will investigate the shooting.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
