Orangeburg, SC: Suspect's family has unanswered questions after deadly shooting

ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) - An Orangeburg County couple's love affair ended tragically.
Investigators believe the 23-year-old man shot and killed his girlfriend. "I'm still hurt, and it's gone hurt for a long time," said Malcolm Curry's aunt Sonovia Guinyard.

Sherwood Curry and Sonovia Guinyard couldn't believe their nephew Malcolm Curry was in jail, charged with murder. Sheriff's deputies said he shot and killed his girlfriend, Lynette Glover. "Instead of one life being lost, it's two now," said Sherwood, "One is gone forever from this world, but then you don't know what the judge is gone give him."

The shooting happened at Sherwood's place off Stroman Street Friday night. Sherwood said he was hanging out with the couple, and when he left the house, the couple seemed to be fine. But then something went wrong. "'Uncle Deek, you need to come back to the house.' I was like, What's wrong?' He said 'Nette is bleeding out the nose.'," said Sherwood.

Sherwood was in shock and called his sister Sonovia. When Sonovia heard that there was shooting at the house, she rushed over. When she got there, she said she saw Lynnette's body lying in the driveway. "The sight, every time I go to sleep now all I see is her face," said Sonovia, "He told me it was an accident. I'm gonna believe that it was an accident because I don't see him shooting her. And his two-year-old child was here. For someone to do that, that's somebody who doesn't care about nothing. And he's not that kind of person."

Family said they last saw the couple at a cookout, and they seemed to be in love. They had been together since high school, which makes the circumstances surrounding the tragedy even more frustrating for curry's family. "It's so many questions that I wanna ask him," said Sherwood, "But the main one is why?"
Family said the couple's child is staying with the victim's mother. Officers are trying to figure out what led up to the shooting.

The incident is still under investigation.
