Henrico, VA: Man Accused of Killing Co-Worker in Court

Newly released details in the february shooting and stand off involving a mother and her two children inside an Henrico apartment where a man was shot.

The suspect was in court for a preliminary hearing where we learned what led up to the shooting.

Antonio Farris,  his former girlfriend, and the victim who was shot and killed, Ryan Chhuom, worked together at a Henrico nursing home.

Farris' former girlfriend told the judge, that two days before the incident, she moved out of his apartment to her own place.

But she says somehow, he found her and that's when the tragedy unfolded.

Antonio Farris' former girlfriend testified that she was returning to her Henrico apartment, after walking her dog.

When Antonio Farris showed up on her front steps carrying a backpack, hammer and a gun.

She says he confronted her and said "what you did was (expletive) up.  You, Ryan, and me are going to die today."  The victim told the judge Farris followed her into the apartment and then struck her in the face with a hammer.

That's when, she says she yelled to one of her daughters who was in the bedroom to call 911.

The victim says Ryan who was lying on the couch, helped her and the two ran to the back of the apartment.

She says Farris then pulled a gun.

The two wrestled with it, before Farris shot Ryan in the chest.

Afterwards, she says Farris stood over ryan and said, "that's what the (expletive) you get.  Was she worth it?"

When police got to the apartment,

officers spent two hours trying to get Farris to come out.

Farris released the mom and her two kids.

Police found Farris unconscious on the bathroom floor.

The victim says she never told Antonio Farris about her new friend, Ryan Chhuom, but we're told the two were in a relationship.

Farris remains behind bars until his next court hearing in May.

The judge certified first degree murder and use of a firearm charges to a Grand jury.

The judge also determined that Farris is competent to stand trial, after his mental capacity came into question.

Neither Farris’family or the victim's family wanted to talk to us on camera.
