WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- West Palm police said they were investigating an attempted murder-suicide late Monday.
Officers said they received a call about a shooting at about 6 p.m. from a home in the 1700 block of 37th Street.
Investigators said 47-year-old George Delva entered the home and shot his mother-in-law, 66-year-old Rosette Charles, before turning the gun on himself. Police said Delva died at the scene.
Detectives said Charles was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital and is expected to be OK.
Investigators said Delva was going through a divorce at the time of the shooting.
Detectives said Delva blamed his wife's parents for their marital problems and came to the house to hand keys over to them.
Police said he told his in-laws goodbye, then pulled the gun out and shot Charles three times before some children in the house took the gun.
Officers said Delva threatened the kids and they gave the gun back to him. Investigators said Delva then fatally shot himself.
Police said the Charles' husband was also taken to a hospital for chest pains after witnessing the shooting.
