WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A man who beat his girlfriend to death with a metal baseball bat in their suburban home has been sentenced to at least 25 years in prison.
Robert Sepe (SEHP'-ee) of Cortlandt had been convicted of second-degree murder by a jury that did not believe his claim of "extreme emotional disturbance."
The 54-year-old Sepe had testified that he was delusional when he killed 41-year-old Janette Carlucci in March 2008 in Cortlandt. The same day the body was found, state troopers spent five hours talking Sepe down from a bridge in Binghamton as he threatened to jump.
Westchester County Judge Barbara Zambelli imposed the maximum sentence of 25 years to life.
