A 39-year-old Harvey man shot himself to death Wednesday night after first stabbing and shooting at his girlfriend.
Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies responded to calls of a domestic dispute in the 500 block of Gardere Avenue in Harvey about 9:30 p.m. and found the man dead of a self-inflicted shotgun wound, said Col. John Fortunato, spokesman for the sheriff's office.
His 38-year-old girlfriend had several stab wounds and was struck by shotgun pellets in the lower extremeties. She was being treated at a local hospital
The dispute apparently began inside a house where the stabbing occurred. The man chased the woman outside firing at least one shot at her, before turning the gun on himself.
