TULSA, Okla. (AP) — An ex-convict accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend has reached a plea agreement with Tulsa County prosecutors in the case.

David Earl Donaldson waived his right to a trial on Thursday and pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in the Feb. 18 death of 33-year-old Jeanna Coffman.

Court records show the 39-year-old Donaldson was accused of first-degree murder in the slaying, but the charge was amended to second-degree murder.

Police say he shot Coffman in the chest during an argument at a residence.

A judge sentenced him to 35 years in prison for the murder, and he received two concurrent 35-year terms after pleading guilty to two firearms counts.
