A man killed by police in a motel room shootout Friday has been identified as Daniel Schuck, 47.
Other patrons of the Days Inn at Interstate 35 near Weidner heard Schuck threatening his girlfriend and called police. When officers partly opened the door, Schuck threatened to kill his girlfriend if they entered.
As police forced open the door. Schuck fired a shot at them from behind a bed, but two officers returned fire — striking him in the torso several times and killing him, police said.
Schuck was pronounced dead at the scene.

(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
