ALLEGHENY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- The Blair County coroner said Monday that the death of a couple last week was a murder-suicide.
Coroner Patty Ross said 65-year-old Betsy Aurandt was shot once in the back last Thursday. Her badly burned body was found inside her home.
Ross said 69-year-old William Aurandt was found dead on a back porch with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The Aurandts were both retired corrections officers from the Blair County Jail.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
