Cape Coral Police say they now know how a couple discovered dead in their home Sunday afternoon died. Their deaths were a result of a murder-suicide.
"Our detectives believe this is a murder-suicide," said Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.
Marcus Jackson, 31 and 28-yr old Tara Brissette were found dead inside the master bedroom of 1413 Sw 16th Terrace Sunday afternoon.
Police say Tara's mother made the disturbing discovery.
"A family member went to the home to retrieve some items and stumbled upon this discovery and called us," said Sizemore.
Cape Coral Police say Jackson shot himself with a shotgun. Tara's cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner. Police say she was not shot.
Neighbor Marty Kay says he didn't know the couple that well, but says he saw police at the house several times in the past.
He thought this was just another call.
"Pretty upsetting, come home the other day saw quite a few police cars. Anytime you hear story like that it is upsetting," said Kay.
Kay was shocked to learn this time, police were responding to a murder suicide.
NBC2's Stephanie Kolp tried speaking with Jackson's family and co-workers.
They were all too upset to talk.
Tara would've celebrated her 29th birthday Wednesday.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
