ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man was arrested in Orlando on suspicion of shooting and killing his estranged wife and her new boyfriend while a 13-year-old girl and her friend were inside the home.
The double homicide occurred Sunday about 9:35 p.m. in the 5400 block of Margaret Drive.
According to police, a neighbor saw a man peeking into an apartment and called authorities.
The man, identified as Eligio Isalgue, 45, tried to kick in the front door of the apartment before breaking in through a rear sliding-glass door, Orlando police said.
Isalgue then shot his estranged wife, Rosa Barrientos Isalgue, 49, and her boyfriend, Raymond D. Treasure, 48, with a .40-caliber handgun, police said.
Police said Isalgue did not harm his 13-year-old daughter and her older friend, who were inside the apartment.
Isalgue was confronted by police in the parking lot and arrested, said police, who added that the gun was found inside the apartment.
Orlando police said Isalgue and his wife had been together for 20 years but had not lived with each other for the past two months.
Police said Isalgue's estranged wife had filed a simple battery domestic violence case against him in 1998, but the charges were dropped because of refusal to prosecute, police said.
Isalgue has been charged with two counts of murder.
