CHELSEA, Mass.—Police are investigating the death of a 50-year-old woman whose body was found in the driveway of a home in Chelsea a day after her husband was accused of assaulting her.
Authorities say the medical examiner is expected to determine the cause and manner of death of 50-year-old Theresa Kenna Wilkes. Her body was discovered by a passerby on Maverick Street at about 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
Her husband, Frederick Wilkes, has been charged with assault and battery for allegedly striking her inside their home Monday night. He is not charged with her killing and no arrests have been made.
State police detectives assigned to the Suffolk District Attorney's office have joined local police detectives in the investigation.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
