WATERBURY — A 19-year-old city man was stabbed to death during an argument with his girlfriend's brother late Saturday.
Gary Dias, 19, suffered a stab wound to the left side of his chest during a fight with Justin Martinez at 156 Hill St., Apt. 3N. He was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital, where he was pronounced death a short time after the 10:30 p.m. incident, Waterbury police spokesman Capt. Christopher Corbett said.
Corbett said Martinez was trying to flee the apartment, where he lived, in a 2000 Hyndai Elantra when he was arrested by Waterbury police officers who were responding to the scene.
Dias was fighting with his girlfriend when Martinez intervened. Police said Martinez stabbed Dias when the two men started fighting.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
