A former Somerset couple was found dead Nov. 8 in an apparent murder-suicide.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department in Florida, Guy, 75, and Sandralee, 73, Holt were discovered in their The Villages home. The couple had moved to Florida in 2000.
Authorities said they were called for a wellness check after neighbors reported they had not seen the couple in several days.
When authorities searched the home they found the Holts on the floor of the master bedroom. Sandralee Holt died of a gunshot to the right side of her head and Guy Holt was found face down next to his wife. He also died from a gunshot wound to his head.
Officers said they believe Guy Holt killed his wife, then shot himself.
Neighbor’s told police they had not seen the Holts since Nov. 1, but noticed they were not bringing their newspaper inside Nov. 6. Neighbors reported that Guy Holt had been depressed and recently became ill, according to authorities.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
