MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) - Jamarquis Williams, the man accused of killing girlfriend Sameicia Bryant, was denied bond by a judge in district court Tuesday during a preliminary hearing.
Williams is accused of shooting Bryant in the head in October.
The defense said Williams accidentally shot Bryant while playing with a 9 mm handgun. But the lead investigator in the murder case told the judge Williams gave police three different versions of what happened on the night Bryant was killed.
Following the brief hearing, the judge ruled the case will be turned over to a grand jury for possible indictment.
Maxine Williams is related to the victim. She said she's glad Williams was denied bond.
Renee Dials talked to the suspect's family and family members of the victim following Tuesday's hearing. Look for her report on FOX10 News at 5 p.m.
