MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A part-time south Alabama evangelist faces life in prison in the death of his wife, a mother of 8 whose body had been stored in a freezer inside his home for at least three years before it was discovered by investigators.
Jury selection in Anthony Hopkins' trial is scheduled to start Monday morning in Mobile. Hopkins also faces charges of sexual abuse, rape, sodomy and incest.
Prosecutors have said a teenage victim who is a female relative of Hopkins' and was pregnant with his child led police to Arletha Hopkins' body in 2008.
Hopkins was arrested in Clarke County while preaching at a rural revival.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
