(04-23) 18:21 PDT PITTSBURG -- Law enforcement officers shot and killed a parolee Friday who was sought in the slaying of a woman found dead in her burning Bay Point apartment earlier in the week, authorities said.
Gary Costa, 37, was shot dead near Marsh Avenue and Frontage Road in Pittsburg at about 4:20 p.m. after a car chase, said sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee. Details about what led up to the shooting were not available.
Authorities were seeking Costa in connection with the slaying of Sarah Morgan, 26, who was found dead in her apartment on the 600 block of Medanos Loop at about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday by maintenance workers who heard a fire alarm, Lee said.
Costa was a parolee and the father of Morgan's 3-year-old daughter, Lee said.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
