:BRISTOL — The man police believed stabbed his estranged wife several times early Sunday was found in a West Springfield hotel room after he apparently committed suicide.
Police had issued a plea to the public for help in finding Ramon Lopez, 32, of 550 Emmett St. after his wife Maria was found stabbed several times on Redstone Hill Road near her husband’s apartment around 2:18 a.m. Sunday.
Maria Lopez was critically injured and has not been able to speak with investigating officers, police said.
Investigators have no idea why Maria was in the area of her husband’s apartment early Sunday morning. She has a residence in East Hartford, police said.
Court records indicate that the pair was involved in a domestic dispute in East Hartford in 2002 that resulted in Ramon Lopez’s arrest and a protective order being issued. The protective order Police have had no prior interaction with the couple, Lt. Donn Watson said.
Ramon Lopez was found in a West Springfield hotel room Monday.
He was taken to a West Springfield hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police are continuing the investigation, Watson said.
