A man and woman were found dead in their home on Jan. 10, according to an announcement from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.
The man had called 911 shortly before midnight to say he just shot his wife and was intending to shoot himself. The 911 operator then heard a single gunshot and nothing more.
Deputies arrived at the couple’s home in the 9800 block of South Camino de la Calinda to find the man dead from a an “obvious defect” with a weapon near his body. A woman was also found dead in a bed in the master bedroom. She, too, “had obvious defects to her body.”
Names are not yet being released until next of kin is notified. No further information was immediately available and the investigation continues.
Detectives are calling it a homicide/suicide.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
