CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - A 28-year-old St. Louis County man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to beating, choking and strangling his girlfriend.
Jessie Meanus of Dellwood was sentenced Tuesday by Judge John Kitz. KSDK reports he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, assault and armed criminal action.
Police said Meanus killed 37-year-old Latonya Fiertag after they had an argument in April 2008.
They said he put her body in a trash container and dumped it into a creek bed. The body was found after a search of several days.

(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
