EL PASO, Texas -- On Thursday, El Paso Police confirmed that the death of a husband and wife inside their East El Paso home was a murder-suicide.
According to police, Johnnie Gipson, 78, shot his wife, 64-year-old Martha Gipson before shooting himself.
As KFOX reported on Monday, Johnnie Gipson's daughter and grandson were at the home on 3349 Wexford Drive at the time of the shooting. They called 911.
Authorities recovered the handgun from inside the residence.
Marriage records show the Gipsons had been married for seven years.
The couple had retired from the U.S. Postal Service, and Mr. Gipson served in the Army.
The family is still working on making funeral arrangements.
