EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) — The live-in boyfriend of an Altoona woman found fatally beaten and strangled was arrested Friday.
Forty-four-year-old Gregory Gubernot is charged in Eau Claire County with first-degree intentional homicide. He was taken into custody in Forest County.
A criminal complaint says the 43-year-old victim, Theresa Still, wanted Gubernot to move out of their home, but he refused. It says Still told a co-worker at OakLeaf Medical Hospital that Gubernot had become "more and more violent and belligerent" with her.
The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram reports investigators say Still was last seen at an Altoona bar Dec. 27 after she argued with Gubernot. Still's body was found in rural Adams County on Dec. 30.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
