Leon, IA: Officials: Leon Deaths Were Murder-Suicide

LEON (KCCI) - Two adults were found shot to death in the southern Iowa town of Leon early Saturday.

The Decatur County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at 12:07 a.m. reporting a shooting at 305 S Main St. Deputies and Leon police officers found a man and a woman dead inside the home. They said there was no sign of forced entry.

The Division of Criminal Investigation identified the two as Ashley Singh, 20, and Brandan Broich, 21. Both were listed as residents of the home. Both died of gunshot wounds.

Chief Ron Zeiss told NewsChannel8 the investigation is now considered a murder-suicide. The bodies of Singh and Broich were found in the basement of the home by Singh's 15-year-old sister.

The couple had a young son together. He was not home at the time of the shootings.

"It's a real loss. The kids were good kids. They worked hard. She held a couple of jobs and he worked from morning until night, as far as I know," said neighbor Sherry Peters. "They were hard-working kids. Just good kids."
