A woman deputy sheriffs said stabbed and killed her boyfriend at an Orange County boarding house was arrested on a first-degree murder count.
Carla Johnson, 42, called 911 twice this morning after 4 a.m. to say she had stabbed her boyfriend Freddie Spears, 51, at a1014 17th Street, a boarding house between Westmoreland Drive and Woods Avenue.
"There was an altercation between her and her boyfriend and she apparently stabbed him," spokeswoman Cpl. Susan Soto said. She did not release information about a motive.
Soto said there was some confusion with the location of the stabbing after the first 911 call.
The initial call was routed to the Orlando Police Department because the woman placed the call from a public phone in the city. Orlando police then transferred the call to the sheriff's office.
Deputies on the way to the call of the stabbing found a woman who had called 911 about a domestic dispute. Sheriff's deputies responded to her residence, thinking she was the initial caller, and discovered there was no violence at that location.
The sheriff's office received a second call from the woman regarding the stabbing and were able to locate her at the 17th Street residence.
Johnson cooperated with detectives, Soto said, but the evidence showed there was probable cause to arrest her.
The boarding house has previously been the scene of violence, according to sheriff's records.
Reports from the sheriff's office show deputies had responded to the 17th Street address three times this year. They responded on March 21 and March 22 to a burglary call and a general investigation.
Deputies said resident Freddie Spears told them a man came to the house, argued with him and punched him in the face. The suspect broke a bottle and threatened to cut Spear, the report shows.
The suspect followed Spears into the house and pushed him against a window, cutting Spears on the wrist. The suspect left and deputies were unable to locate him. Deputies responded to the house the following day for a check on Spears.
Someone also called 911 on April 2, but deputies were unable to locate the caller.
