MASTIC, N.Y. — A Long Island man is under arrest, charged with strangling his girlfriend in front of their baby.
Suffolk County police say 35-year-old Justin Miller was being arraigned Sunday on charges of second-degree murder.
Authorities say he killed his 29-year-old girlfriend during an argument Saturday at the home they shared in Mastic.
Miller then called his sister, who called police.
Officers responding to the scene on Saturday found Teresa Heredia unconscious. She was later pronounced dead.
The couple's seven-month-old baby is in the care of a relative
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
