BRANDON, MS (WLBT) -
Brandon police are investigating a case of domestic violence that left a woman dead and her boyfriend charged with murder.
Chief Brian Chalk told WLBT late Saturday night that police were called to the scene of a fatal shooting in the 2000 block of Red Oak Drive.
Investigators said a neighbor made the 911 call when 47-year-old Robert McGuire knocked on his door.
The neighbor told police that McGuire said he shot his girlfriend.
Police found 61-year-old Linda D. Tate dead inside the residence.
Preliminary investigations indicate she suffered a gunshot wound.
The motive for the fatal shooting is unknown at this time.
McGuire was taken into custody at the scene and is being held at the Rankin County Detention Center.
