HUNTINGTON BEACH – Police have identified a man and woman who were found dead Wednesday morning in what appears to have been a murder-suicide, authorities said.
Robert Saltarelli, 55, and his wife Tonie Saltarelli, 56, were found dead with gunshot wounds in a residence in the 8800 block of Jarrett Circle, Huntington Beach police Sgt. Chad Nichols said.
Nichols did not disclose who fired the gun or a possible motive but said the couple had gone to court this week regarding marital issues.
According to Orange County Superior Court records, Robert Saltarelli filed a petition Aug. 16 to dissolve the couple's marriage. The Saltarellis had a scheduled court date at 12 p.m. Tuesday, the day before they were found dead.
On Wednesday, officers were sent to the home to check on the welfare of two adults who lived at the residence, police said.
Police were initially unable to get into the locked home until a family member, who Nichols later said appears to be their daughter, arrived.
Based on their preliminary investigation, police believe that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, officials said.
