PHENIX CITY, Ala. -- The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Phenix City man after police found the man’s wife shot to death in the couple’s home early Saturday morning. Edward Ray Wade, also known as Bubba Wade, has been charged with one count of third-degree domestic violence assault, a class A misdemeanor, according to a news release.
The release states that at approximately 3:25 a.m. Saturday the Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a possible domestic shooting in the 100 block of Lee Road 597 in Phenix City. Deputies found Tammy Danielle Wade, 28, on the bathroom floor. She had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, according to the statement. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and Edward Wade was then taken into custody.
“According to neighbors … they had heard screaming and yelling coming from the home shortly before they heard gunshots,” the statement reads. “Lee County Sheriff’s Investigators observed evidence inside the residence that was consistent with a struggle.” Police found two 9mm handguns inside the residence. Edward Wade was the only one at the scene, police said. Sheriff Jay Jones told the Opelika-Auburn News the investigation is continuing and could lead to further charges.
Wade is currently being held at the Lee County Detention Facility on $1,000 bond. Police ask that anyone with information about this investigation call the Lee County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-522-7847.
