York County Sheriff's Office investigators believe a man fatally shot his girlfriend before taking his own life at the home they shared in Sharon, S.C.
Deputies were called to 2424 Creekside Drive just after 9 a.m. Monday after co-workers of Linda Anne Dixon told officers she had not reported to work and they had attempted to check on her.
Deputies found Jeffery Duane Goldsmith and Dixon inside the home. Both were seated on a couch and both had suffered a gunshot wound. Deputies recovered a handgun.
Investigators believe Goldsmith fatally shot Dixon and then took his own life. Goldsmith and Dixon, who were boyfriend and girlfriend, had been in a relationship for approximately seven years.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by the York County Coroner’s Office.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
