A 43-year-old Mira Mesa man whose wife died after he said she fell down a flight of stairs was arrested Thursday night in connection with her death.
David Ditto was taken into custody about 8:45 p.m. outside his Canyon Point Lane home, homicide Lt. Ernie Herbert said.
Karina Ditto, 39, was admitted to a hospital about 12:50 a.m. Saturday in critical condition after her husband called 911 and said she needed medical attention, Herbert said. She died from her injuries Monday at 9:40 p.m.
Officers believed that the circumstances of Ditto’s death were suspicious.
After an autopsy was conducted, the county Medical Examiner’s Office found “unexplained trauma” on her body and determined her death was a homicide, Herbert said.
David Ditto is being held without bail on suspicion of murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
