Flint Police say a man shot and killed his wife early Sunday morning.
It all started just after midnight in the 1600 block of Welch.
Police say they responded to a home there after someone called 911 reporting a domestic assault.
“The call indicated a man was assaulting his wife,” said Flint Police Sgt. Ken Engel, who is in charge of the investigation.
When police arrived at the scene they learned there had been gunshots. The man involved in the fight refused to come out of the home. Police say after a short standoff, he surrendered.
Police found his wife, Janita Clarice Martin-Ross dead inside the home from a gunshot wound.
They arrested her husband. He is being held in the Genesee County Jail for the murder, but is not yet charged.
Police say the investigation will be turned over to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s office for review on Monday.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
