NEWPORT NEWS — A 56-year-old man was stabbed to death in Newport News early this morning, and his wife has been charged with first-degree murder.
Betty Ellis-Gholson, 58, was arrested late Thursday morning and charged in the death of her husband, Larry Gholson.
The homicide — the 18th in the city this year — occurred just after 1 a.m. at a residence in the 700 block of 30th Street. Gholson was found at the front door of the residence with at least one stab wound to the upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
